Juba League leader injured in terrorist attack in Ghior - their condition is critical

Bloody clashes are also taking place in Ghior of Manikganj amidst the panic of Corona. Two critically injured people have been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar. A complaint was lodged at Ghior police station. Tensions have been high in the area since the incident. Locals said there was a risk of a bloody clash between them at any time.
According to a written complaint lodged with Ghior police station, Ifti Arif, joint general secretary of Upazila Juba League, was attacked on his way to a relief program for about half a hundred poor and helpless people in Chhota Bainya and Patekona areas of Baliakhora union. At that time, the two Juba League leaders and activists who were with him were hacked at random with domestic weapons and severely injured by the miscreants. Arif said that the terrorists attacked with weapons due to previous hostilities.
In this regard, Ifti Arif, Joint General Secretary of Upazila Juba League, said, “9/10 people including Russell, Bachchu, Noor Alam, Shamim stopped us on our way to Bainya Rahij Uddin High School ground to pay cash among more than half a hundred helpless people who lost their jobs due to Corona virus. He demanded 10 thousand rupees. When we protest against this, they attack us with native weapons. The doctors who were with us, Aminul Islam (Lavlu) and Shant were hacked to death and left on the road. The injured have been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
Bainya Jame Mosque Committee President Mohammad Amjad Hossain denied allegations of obstruction or attack on relief distribution, saying the real incident was about the lease money of the long-disputed water body.
Ghio OC Muhammad Ashraful Alam confirmed the receipt of the written complaint and said legal action would be taken against the accused subject to investigation.
