Money laundering, corruption, looting, inflation is increasing.
To pull the reins, spending should be cut in
non-essential sectors.
But because of this
war, the prices of various things are being increased in Bangladesh one after
another. Recently, fuel oil prices have been raised to record highs. Human
suffering will become more limitless. Inflation will increase further. Leaders
of the opposition political parties suggested reducing the expenditure of
various unnecessary sectors of the government including stopping corruption and
looting to curb inflation.
Member of the BNP
standing committee. Miner Mosharraf Hossain said that the price of goods is
uncontrolled. Common people are disoriented by the pressure of inflation. The
government has recently increased the price of fuel oil. It affects everything.
When the price of fuel oil decreased in the international market, the price was
increased in Bangladesh.
He said that the
government has been saying different kinds of words at different times to cover
up corruption, looting and failure. Because of their looting economy, prices of
goods are increasing. Nowhere in the world has the situation been so bad as in
Bangladesh. Money laundering, looting, bank looting, reserve looting - if not,
the country will return to normal. Inflation is bound to come down.
Jatiya Party Secretary
General Mujibul Haque Chunnu MP said that the government is increasing the
expenditure day by day in the name of development projects. The project is not
completed on time. Rather, the term is increasing. Along with this, the cost is
also increasing. Added to this is money laundering, unlimited corruption and
looting.
Corruption along with
spending on underdeveloped sectors is destroying our economy. And to deal with
these, the government has increased the price of oil on various pretexts.
Earlier, the price of gas, water and electricity has increased. He said,
people's income is not increasing. But the cost is increasing. There is no
control over house rent, commodity prices. Because of this people's life is
becoming miserable.
People's Rights Council
convener and prominent economist Dr. Reza Kibria said the government is
increasing the price of gas, oil and electricity due to corruption and
inefficiency. Oil prices have started to fall abroad. But it has no effect in
Bangladesh. As the price of oil increases, the price of everything increases.
And the figures given by the government about inflation are false. Inflation
between 10 and 15 percent according to me. If the monitoring policy is not
fixed, the rate of inflation will not decrease.
He said that the cost
is actually 30 to 40 percent of what is being shown. So if the theft is
reduced, a lot of work can be done with less money. The tax on the rich is not
effective, it should be made effective. The government should increase its
income. Our country is now behind all countries. We collect only 10 percent of
GDP from taxes. It should increase a lot. Company tax should be increased.
Apart from this, the amount of theft should also be reduced. There are steps
that can be taken to reduce the impact of excess demand and prices.
Saiful Haque, general
secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party, said that the monetary policy of
Bangladesh Bank needs to be properly monitored when it should be contracted and
expanded. The value of money is rapidly decreasing. It is a dire situation.
First, a decision needs to be taken by taking an overall review, starting from
the monetary policy of the government. Second, the government's import cost
figures are misleading. The talk of a Russia-Ukraine war over energy is ridiculous.
Meanwhile, the price of fuel oil is decreasing in the international market due
to various reasons.
He said that BPC has
made a profit of 42 thousand crores in the last eight years. 18 to 20 thousand
crores went to the government treasury. And now they are arguing in favor of
fuel price hike as they have given Rs 8000 crore subsidy in the last eight
months. With the money they gained, they now had the opportunity to subsidize
the situation without raising prices. Now the increase in fuel prices has affected
all sectors.
Every family is
affected in some way. Prices are inflated where there is no rational reason. As
a result, the impact of the government's actions is not being taken seriously.
Although in this case the government needs to think with a cool head. The
import of luxury goods should be reduced for the next six months or a year.
Government expenditure should be reduced. Apart from this there are many other
such fields. Doing so can keep the economy stronger.
