পর্যটকদের ভীরে বাংলাদেশরই ‘নতুন দার্জিলিং’

 

মাতামুহুরী নদীটি বান্দরবানের আলীকদমের আরাকান পর্বত থেকে উৎপত্তি হয়ে লামা হয়ে কক্সবাজারের চকরিয়া ও পেকুয়া উপজেলা ওপর দিয়ে সাপের মতো আঁকাবাঁকা পথে বঙ্গোপসাগরে গিয়ে মিশেছে

    বাংলাদেশর দক্ষিনপূর্বাংশের মাতামুহুরী নদীর দুই পাশে উঁচু–নিচু পর্বতসারি, শীতের ঘনকুয়াশায় ঢাকা মেঘমালা। একটু দূরত্বে দেখা মেলে শ্বেতপাথরের বুক চিরে ছলাৎ ছলাৎ শব্দে ঝরনার রক্তক্ষরণ। স্বচ্ছ-নীল জলের নদীতে ডিঙি নৌকায় ভাসতে ভাসতে আপনার মনে হবে এ এক অন্য রকম দার্জিলিং। যেখানে একসঙ্গে নীল জলরাশি, সবুজ পাহাড় আর সাদা মেঘমালার মিলনমেলা।

বলছিলাম, কক্সবাজারের ভেতরে লুকিয়ে থাকা দৃষ্টিনন্দন রূপ–লাবণ্যে ভরা এক লীলাভূমির কথা। জায়গাটিতে একবার যাঁদের পা পড়েছে, তাঁদের অনেকের মুখে দার্জিলিংয়ের তুলনা। এখন বিপুল পর্যটক টানছে অচেনা এই দার্জিলিং।

যদি বলি, বিশ্বের দীর্ঘতম সমুদ্রসৈকতের রানী কক্সবাজারে কী নেই। একটু ভেবে নিয়ে বলতে হবে, সৃষ্টিকর্তা প্রকৃতির সবটুকু ঢেলে দিয়েছেন এখানে। প্রবালদ্বীপ সেন্ট মার্টিন, আন্তর্জাতিক নদী নাফ, নাফ নদীর বুকে জালিয়ারদিয়ায় ট্যুরিজম পার্ক, মগ জমিদারকন্যা মাথিনের সঙ্গে সাহিত্যিক ধীরাজ ভট্টাচার্যের ঐতিহাসিক প্রেমকাহিনির মাথিনকূপ, গহিন বনের নেচার পার্ক, শতবর্ষী প্রাকৃতিক কুদুমগুহা, পাথুরে সৈকত ইনানী, কানা রাজার সুড়ঙ্গ, বৌদ্ধপল্লি, শুঁটকি মহাল, লবণমাঠ, সাফারি পার্ক, সাগরতলের রহস্যভরা ফিস ওয়ার্ল্ড অ্যাকুরিয়ামসহ দর্শনীয় কত কিছু। এখন কক্সবাজারের পর্যটনের আরেক সম্ভাবনা ‘নিভৃতে নিসর্গ পার্ক’।

মাতামুহুরী, বান্দরবান ও কক্সবাজার জেলার চারটি উপজেলার অন্তত সাত লাখ মানুষের ভাগ্যবদলের আধার

পার্কটির অবস্থান কক্সবাজার শহর থেকে প্রায় ৫৫ কিলোমিটার দূরে, চকরিয়া উপজেলার সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুর ইউনিয়নের ৬ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডে। এখান থেকে দক্ষিণ দিকে কিছু দূর গেলে চোখে পড়বে পার্বত্য বান্দরবানের লামা উপজেলা। লামার মিরিনজা পর্যটনপল্লির উঁচু পাহাড়চূড়ায় আছে ইট-পাথরে নির্মিত বিশাল টাইটানিক জাহাজ। সেই জাহাজে দাঁড়িয়ে দেখা মেলে সুদূরের কক্সবাজার সৈকত, বঙ্গোপসাগর আর মহেশখালী চ্যানেলের।

সুন্দর বিলোচ্ছে মাতামুহুরী

কক্সবাজারের সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুরে এই নতুন বিনোদনকেন্দ্রে প্রতিদিন যাচ্ছেন হাজারো মানুষ

প্রায় ১৪৬ কিলোমিটার দৈর্ঘ্যের মাতামুহুরী নদীর উৎপত্তিস্থল নিয়ে বিতর্ক আছে। নদীটি বান্দরবানের আলীকদমের আরাকান পর্বত থেকে উৎপত্তি হয়ে লামা হয়ে কক্সবাজারের চকরিয়া ও পেকুয়া উপজেলার ওপর দিয়ে সাপের মতো আঁকাবাঁকা পথে এগিয়ে বঙ্গোপসাগরে গিয়ে মিশেছে। কারও মতে, লামার মাইভার পর্বতে মাতামুহুরীর উৎপত্তি। মগ ভাষায় নদীর নাম ‘মা-মুরি’।

মতান্তরে, মাতৃস্তনসদৃশ বিভিন্ন পর্বত গাত্র থেকে জল চুইয়ে চুইয়ে পড়েই এ নদীর সৃষ্টি, এ কারণে নামকরণ মাতামুহুরী। মুহুরী শব্দের অর্থ অসংখ্য ছিদ্র দিয়ে জল পড়ার ঝাঁঝর। নদীর তীরে গড়ে উঠেছে আলীকদম, লামা, চকরিয়া ও পেকুয়া উপজেলা শহর। নীলনদ যেমন মিসরের জন্য দান, তেমনি মাতামুহুরী বান্দরবান ও কক্সবাজার জেলার চারটি উপজেলার অন্তত সাত লাখ মানুষের ভাগ্যবদলের আধার। নদীর তীরে শীতকালীন শাকসবজি, ফলমূল উৎপাদনের পাশাপাশি গড়ে উঠেছে মৎস্য ও পোলট্রি খামার, ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠান ও পর্যটনকেন্দ্র। নদীটির গড় প্রস্থ ১৫৪ মিটার। বর্ষাকালে পাহাড়ি ঢলের কারণে নদীর পানি ফুলে ওঠে, তখন প্রস্থ আরও বেড়ে যায়।

৮৮৪ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের কক্সবাজার জেলার লোকসংখ্যা প্রায় ২৫ লাখ। উত্তরে পেকুয়া উপজেলার রাজাখালী ইউনিয়নের সীমানা থেকে দক্ষিণ দিকের টেকনাফের বদরমোকাম পর্যন্ত দীর্ঘ ১৪৫ কিলোমিটারব্যাপী বিস্তীর্ণ সমুদ্র উপকূল। জেলার ৫০ ভাগ এলাকাজুড়ে রয়েছে ছোট–বড় অসংখ্য পাহাড় পর্বত। শুধু কুতুবদিয়া উপজেলাতে পাহাড় নেই। হিমালয়ের পর্বতমালার দক্ষিণ দিকে সম্প্রসারিত আরাকান পর্বতমালা জেলার পূর্বভাগের ওপর দিয়ে গেছে। এ কারণে টেকনাফ, উখিয়া, রামু, কক্সবাজার সদর, চকরিয়াতে পাহাড় ও বনাঞ্চল বেশি। জেলার সবচেয়ে উঁচু পাহাড় ‘তুনাঙ্গানাঙ্গা’—সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ থেকে ৮৮০ ফুট। এটির অবস্থান টেকনাফের জাহাজপুরা এলাকায়। দ্বিতীয় উচ্চতার ৫৫১ ফুটের পর্বত নেটংও টেকনাফে। তৃতীয় উচ্চতার ‘নাগাটং’ ৫৪৫ ফুট—চকরিয়ায়। পাহাড়ের কারণে জেলায় অসংখ্য ছোট–বড় নদীর সৃষ্টি। এর মধ্যে বড় তিনটি নদী মাতামুহুরী, বাঁকখালী ও রেজুর উৎপত্তি পাহাড় থেকেই। মাতামুহুরী নদীর মধ্যভাগেই গড়ে ওঠে অচেনা দার্জিলিং।

পাহাড়-ঝরনার ইয়াংছা

পাহাড়-ঝরণার নীলজলের পাহাড়-ঝরণার ‘ইয়াংছা’, দৃষ্টিনন্দন এই জায়গাটি এতদিন পযর্টকের দৃষ্টিসীমার বাইরে ছিল

সবুজ পাহাড়, নীল জলের ঝরনায় দৃষ্টিনন্দন জায়গাটি এত দিন পর্যটকের দৃষ্টিসীমার বাইরে ছিল। নজরে আসেনি গণমাধ্যমেরও। অচেনা এই পর্যটন স্পটের নামকরণ ‘নিভৃতে নিসর্গ পার্ক’ হয়েছে মাত্র কয়েক দিন আগে। কক্সবাজারের জেলা প্রশাসক মো. কামাল হোসেনের নেতৃত্বে বিভিন্ন শ্রেণি–পেশার মানুষের একটি দল ২৬ ডিসেম্বর সরেজমিন পরিদর্শন করেন অন্য রকম দার্জিলিং। এর রূপ-লাবণ্যে মুগ্ধ হন সবাই। পার্কের নামকরণ ‘নিভৃতে নিসর্গ পার্ক’ জেলা প্রশাসকের দেওয়া। ওই দিন সেখানে পার্কের ফলকও উন্মোচন করে জেলা প্রশাসক মো. কামাল হোসেন বলেছিলেন, বাংলাদেশে এ রকম প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যে ভরা লীলাভূমি দ্বিতীয়টি নেই। যেখানে মেঘালয়ের মতো পাহাড়–পর্বত, সবুজে ঘেরা পাহাড়ের বুকে একাধিক ঝরনাধারা, হিমাচলের শুভ্র মেঘের গালিচা মুহূর্তেই শরীর–মন সতেজ করে দেয়।

২৮ ডিসেম্বর দুপুরে সরেজমিন গিয়ে দেখা গেছে, অনেক মানুষ ডিঙি নিয়ে নদী ভ্রমণ করছেন। বেশির ভাগ স্থানীয়, অল্প কিছু পর্যটক। তাঁরা ইয়াংছারমুখ ঘাট থেকে নৌকায় উঠে ৮-১০ কিলোমিটার দূরে লামাবাজার যাচ্ছেন। এরপর পর্বতের রানী লামা উপজেলা ঘুরে নৌকায় পুনরায় ইয়াংছার মুখ ঘাটে ফিরে আসছেন তাঁরা। মানিকপুর ঘাট দিয়েও অনেকে নদীভ্রমণে যাচ্ছেন। চকরিয়া উপজেলা প্রশাসনের সহযোগিতায় পুরো পার্কটির তত্ত্বাবধান করছে স্থানীয় সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুর ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ। ইউপি চৌকিদার সাইফুল ইসলামের নেতৃত্বে চারজন স্বেচ্ছাসেবী পার্কটি দেখাশোনা করছেন। পার্কে প্রবেশে টাকা দিতে হয় না।
চৌকিদার সাইফুল ইসলাম বললেন, প্রতিদিন এই ঘাট দিয়ে হাজারো মানুষ লামাবাজার আসা–যাওয়া করছেন। এর মধ্যে অন্তত ৩০০ জন পর্যটক। সকাল সাতটা থেকে বিকেল পাঁচটা পর্যন্ত নদীভ্রমণ সবার জন্য উন্মুক্ত।

ঘাটে কথা হয় সিলেট থেকে আসা ব্যবসায়ী কেরামত আলীর সঙ্গে। তাঁর সঙ্গে স্ত্রী ও দুই ছেলে। কেরামত আলী (৪৫) বললেন, কক্সবাজার সৈকত ভ্রমণে গিয়ে জানতে পারি নতুন এই পর্যটনকেন্দ্রের কথা। তারপর দেখতে আসা। নদী ভ্রমণ করে আনন্দ পেয়েছি। তবে বিনোদনের আরও সুযোগ-সুবিধার পাশাপাশি যোগাযোগব্যবস্থার উন্নতি দরকার। পুরো পার্কে বিদ্যুৎ নেই।

মাতামুহুরী নদীর দুইপাশে উঁচুনিচু পর্বতসারি, শীতের ঘনকুয়াশায় ঢাকা মেঘমালা

পার্কের পাশের একটি পাথরের পাহাড়ের নামকরণ করা হয় ‘শ্বেত পাহাড়’। এর আশপাশে একসঙ্গে দেখা যায় পাহাড়, পাথুরে নদী, ঝরনা, মেঘ-কুয়াশা, বন্য প্রাণী, স্বচ্ছ নীল জলরাশি ইত্যাদি।

চকরিয়ার সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুর ইউনিয়নের ৬ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের ইউপি সদস্য রফিকুল ইসলাম কাজল বললেন, ২৬ ডিসেম্বর জেলা প্রশাসক মো. কামাল হোসেন পার্কটির উদ্বোধন করেন। মূলত এরপর থেকে পর্যটকেরা ‘নিভৃত নিসর্গ’ দেখতে ছুটে আসছেন। ক্রমে পর্যটকের আগমন বাড়ছে। গত মঙ্গলবার (২৯ ডিসেম্বর) ২২টি নৌকা নিয়ে নদী ভ্রমণে নেমেছেন দুই শতাধিক পর্যটক। আগের দিন ২৮টি নৌকায় নেমেছেন প্রায় ৩০০ জন। প্রায় ৬৪ কোটি টাকায় নির্মাণাধীন (ইয়াংছাঘাট পর্যন্ত) ১৯ কিলোমিটারের ‘জিন্দাবাজার-ইয়াংছাঘাট সড়কটি’ পাকা হয়ে গেলে যোগাযোগ সহজ হবে। নিভৃত নিসর্গ পার্কে বিদ্যুৎ–সংযোগের কাজও চলছে দ্রুতগতিতে।

পার্কের তথ্য সরবরাহকারী কর্মকর্তা ও চকরিয়া উপজেলা ডিজিটাল সেন্টারের পরিচালক এরশাদুল হক বলেন, সাপ্তাহিক ছুটির দিন শুক্র ও শনি—দুই দিন পার্ক ভ্রমণে যাচ্ছেন দৈনিক অন্তত পাঁচ হাজার মানুষ। অন্য দিন যাচ্ছেন এক থেকে দুই হাজার জন। পর্যটকদের ভ্রমণের জন্য সেখানে আছে ৬০টির অধিক ছোট–বড় ডিঙি নৌকা। শীতকালে নদীর পানি শুকিয়ে গেছে, তাই লামাবাজার পর্যন্ত যাতায়াত চলছে। বর্ষাকালে পানি বেড়ে গেলে নৌকায় আলীকদম পর্যন্ত যাওয়া সম্ভব হবে। এখন লামা যেতে নৌকাভাড়া (রিজার্ভ) লাগে ১ হাজার ২০০ টাকা। প্রতিটি নৌকায় ওঠেন ১৫-২০ জন।

                                                         পর্যটনের নতুন দিগন্ত

জায়গাটিতে একবার যাঁর পা পড়েছে-তাঁদের অনেকের মুখে দার্জিলিংয়ের তুলনা। এখন বিপুল পযর্টক টানছে অচেনা এই দার্জিলিং

জেলা প্রশাসক মো. কামাল হোসেন বলেন, বিশ্বের দীর্ঘতম সমুদ্রসৈকত দেখতে সম্প্রতি কয়েক লাখ মানুষ কক্সবাজার ছুটে এসেছেন। তাঁরা সেন্টমার্টিন, টেকনাফ, মহেশখালী, রামুর দর্শনীয় স্থানগুলো পরিদর্শন করে ঘরে ফিরছেন। কিন্তু অচেনা দার্জিলিং একবার গেলে বারবার দেখতে যাওয়ার মতো একটি জায়গা। পর্যটকসহ বিভিন্ন বয়সী মানুষ যেন সহজে ‘নিভৃত নিসর্গ’ ভ্রমণে যেতে পারেন, সে ব্যাপারে উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছে জেলা প্রশাসন। বিশেষ করে লোকজনের সহজ যাতায়াত এবং নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। পার্কটিকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় করে গড়ে তোলা হবে। পর্যটনের নতুন দিগন্ত উন্মোচন করবে এই পার্ক।

২৬ ডিসেম্বর পার্ক পরিদর্শনের সময় জেলা প্রশাসকের সঙ্গে ছিলেন অতিরিক্ত জেলা ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট (এডিএম) মো. শাজাহান আলী, অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (সার্বিক) মো. মাসুদুর রহমান মোল্লা, অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (রাজস্ব) মো. আমিন আল পারভেজ, চকরিয়া উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) সৈয়দ সামশুল তাবরিজ, উপজেলা সহকারী কমিশনার (ভূমি) মো. তানভীর হোসেন, সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুর ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের (ইউপি) চেয়ারম্যান আজিজুল হক আজিম প্রমুখ। সবাই পার্কের সৌন্দর্যে মুগ্ধ।

ইউপি চেয়ারম্যান আজিজুল হক আজিম বলেন, পাহাড়বেষ্টিত আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটন স্পটটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ পর্যটনকেন্দ্র হিসেবে রূপ পেলে দেশের পর্যটনশিল্প বিকাশে ভূমিকা রাখবে। সৃষ্টি হবে কর্মসংস্থানের। সুরাজপুর-মানিকপুরকে দেখবে পুরো বাংলাদেশ।

অচেনা পার্ক ঘুরে এসে পরিবেশবাদী সংগঠন ‘কক্সবাজার বন ও পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ পরিষদ’ সভাপতি দীপক শর্মা বলেন, দুই পাহাড়ের মাঝখানে আকাঁবাঁকা হ্রদের জলরাশিতে নৌকায় ছুটে চলা, রোমাঞ্চকর অভিযাত্রা, ভোজনবিলাস—সব আনন্দ ‘নিভৃতে নিসর্গ’ পার্কে পাচ্ছেন পর্যটকেরা। নৌকায় নদীভ্রমণের পাশাপাশি পাহাড়ের সঙ্গে নদীর মিতালি দেখতে গিয়ে দেখা মিলবে বিভিন্ন বন্য প্রাণীর, দেখা মিলবে একসঙ্গে জলজ প্রাণীর সঙ্গে বন্য প্রাণীর মিলনমেলার। এর মধ্যে পাহাড় বেয়ে ঝরে পড়া ঝরনা ধারার শব্দ, পাখির কলরব, গাছে গাছে বানরের দৌড়ঝাঁপ, বনাঞ্চলে হরিণের লাফালাফি মন পুলকিত করবে।

নীল জলরাশি দিয়ে যেতে যেতে দেখা মিলবে একাধিক সাদা পাথরের পাহাড়। এর মধ্যে সুউচ্চ সাদা পাহাড় মন টানবে, ইচ্ছা হবে শ্বেতপাথরের পাহাড়ের নিচে দাঁড়িয়ে স্মৃতির ছবি তুলে রাখতে। পাহাড় ও নদীর অপরূপ সান্নিধ্য মিলবে এখানে।

যেভাবে যেতে হয়

কক্সবাজার অথবা ঢাকা থেকে সড়কপথে (চট্টগ্রাম-কক্সবাজার মহাসড়ক) প্রথমে চকরিয়া পৌরসভা বাসস্টেশনে নামতে হবে। সেখান থেকে জিপ অথবা মিনিবাসে উঠে প্রায় আট কিলোমিটার গেলে ফাঁসিয়াখালী স্টেশন। সেখান থেকে যেতে হবে বান্দরবানের লামা সড়ক ধরে ১২ কিলোমিটার দূরে ইয়াংছাবাজারে। ইয়াংছাবাজার থেকে অটোরিকশা অথবা ব্যাটারিচালিত ইজিবাইক (টমটম) নিয়ে আড়াই কিলোমিটার গেলেই (এখন ইট ও কাঁচা রাস্তা) সামনে পড়বে কাঙ্ক্ষিত সেই পর্যটন স্পট ‘নিভৃতে নিসর্গ’। চকরিয়া থেকে নিভৃত নিসর্গ পার্কে যেতে ভাড়া পড়বে ৫০ টাকা। প্রাইভেট কারেও যাতায়াত করা যায়। কক্সবাজার শহর থেকে সকালে গিয়ে বিকেলে ফিরে আসা যায়। ইচ্ছা করলে ফিরতি পথে চকরিয়া বঙ্গবন্ধু সাফারি পার্ক, রামু বৌদ্ধপল্লি, রাবার বাগান, কক্সবাজার শহরের রাখাইন তরুণীদের বার্মিজ মার্কেট ঘুরে আসা যায়।

এটা এখন অনেকেই জানেন যে, ভাইরাস সবসময়ই নিজেকে পরিবর্তন করে নতুন রূপ নিতে থাকে - যাকে বলে 'মিউটেশন'। কখনো কখনো এই নতুন রূপ নেওয়া ভাইরাস আগেরটার চাইতে বেশি ভয়ঙ্কর হয়, বা আগের চাইতে 'নিরীহ'ও হয়ে যেতে পারে। এমন কিছু মিউটেশনও হতে পারে যার আদৌ কোনো প্রভাব পড়ে না।

ভাইরাস কেন এভাবে রূপ পরিবর্তন করে? সাধারণত এর লক্ষ্য হলো - যাতে সে এক মানবদেহ থেকে আরেক দেহে আরও সহজে ছড়াতে এবং বংশবৃদ্ধি করতে পারে, অথবা ওষুধ বা চিকিৎসার মতো কোনো বাধা মোকাবিলা করে টিকে থাকতে পারে। 

করোনাভাইরাসও যে এভাবে মিউটেশনের মাধ্যমে নতুন চেহারা নিতে পারে বা নিচ্ছে - এ ব্যাপারে বিজ্ঞানীরা আগে থেকেই সচেতন ছিলেন। তবে গত দু'এক দিনে ইংল্যাণ্ডের অন্তত ৬০টি জায়গায় করোনাভাইরাসের এক নতুন 'স্ট্রেইন' - এর সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে।

বিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন, সম্প্রতি ওই এলাকায় করোনাভাইরাস সংক্রমণ দ্রুতগতিতে বাড়ার পেছনে এই নতুন রূপগ্রহণকারী ভাইরাসটিই দায়ী।

বিশ্বস্বাস্থ্য সংস্থাকে এর মধ্যেই ব্যাপারটি জানানো হয়েছে এবং ব্রিটিশ বিজ্ঞানীরা এই ভাইরাসটি নিয়ে বিস্তারিত গবেষণা শুরু করেছেন।

এখন প্রশ্ন হলো: এই নতুন ধরনের করোনাভাইরাস কোথা থেকে এলো, এবং আমাদের কতটা উদ্বিগ্ন হবার কারণ আছে।

নতুন প্রজাতির করোনাভাইরাসের আচরণ কি ভিন্ন?

বিবিসির স্বাস্থ্য এবং বিজ্ঞান সংবাদদাতা জেমস গ্যালাহার লিখছেন, করোনাভাইরাসের নতুন স্ট্রেইনের খবর দেখলে প্রথমেই তিনি যে প্রশ্নটি তোলেন তা হলো: ভাইরাসের আচরণে কি কোনো পরিবর্তন এসেছে?

ভাইরাসের মিউটেশনের খবর দেখলেই তা আমাদের কাছে একটা ভয়ের খবর বলে মনে হয়। কিন্তু মিউটেশন এবং নিজেকে পরিবর্তন করতে থাকা ভাইরাসের স্বাভাবিক ধর্ম।

অনেক সময় এ পরিবর্তন হয় প্রায় অর্থহীন, কখনো এটা মানুষকে সংক্রমণের ক্ষমতা হারিয়ে ফেলে মরে নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যায়।

আবার কখনো কখনো এটা আরো বেশিদিন টিকে থাকার এবং সংক্রমণ বাড়ানোর 'উইনিং ফরমূলা' পেয়ে যেতে পারে।

নতুন মিউটেশনটি কি বেশি সংক্রমণের কারণ?
